Another Summer Forecast

By Paul Yeager, author of Weather Whys: Facts, Myths, and Oddities

I know that many of you have been looking for summer forecast (based on searches), so in addition to the NOAA summer forecast, I thought I’d let you know about AccuWeather’s summer forecast.

It seems to highlight some of the basic ideas as the NOAA forecast, including cooler- and wetter-than-normal weather in parts of the Plains and Midwest and hotter-than-normal weather in the Southwest and southern Plains.

The AccuWeather forecast is more detailed that the NOAA forecast, which as I’ve discussed many times is a probablity scheme more than specific forecast. AccuWeather highlights the prospects of a high fire danger in the Southeast because of a lack of moisture, along with prospects of expanding drought in the Southwest and Rockies. The forecast also predicts persistent coolest along the West Coast, and numerous outbreaks of severe thundersotmrs in the Plains and Midwest.

I’m not saying that the forecast is better, but it is more detailed. Check it out from the link above if you’re interested.
